Description

A leading manufacturer of engineered steel reinforcement and associated products for use in concrete construction, our client has long and successful history of innovation, manufacturing flexibility and engineering expertise dating back to 1908.

With a nationwide network of manufacturing and sales locations and annual sales exceeding £175 million, the company’s core products are rebar and standard fabric, carpet reinforcement, custom-engineered mesh and pre-fabricated reinforcement.  This range is augmented by specialist products for ground stabilisation, custom-engineered formwork, masonry reinforcement, welded wire mesh, couplers, continuity strip and an extensive range of accessories for concrete construction.  By consulting with customers early in the process and taking an intelligent, engineering-based approach to the detailing of steel reinforcement, the company is able to reduce steel laying time, thereby cutting manpower requirements and accelerating the construction programme. 

The company is presently seeking to appoint a proven solution sales professional to develop added value business with major clients throughout the UK.  Typically these clients will be main contractors operating in the general construction, civil engineering, nuclear and wind power, utilities and highways sectors.  The purpose of this position is to maximise added value business as a supplementary revenue stream to the company’s core bar and mesh sales.  This will involve the promotion of additional non-core products and, more importantly, require a solution oriented approach to identifying and understanding clients’ needs for cost savings, efficiency gains and health & safety considerations in order to provide bespoke solutions tailored to meet these needs.

Preferred candidates will have an engineering background and should be able to demonstrate a track record of success in solution selling with heavy, structural or concrete-related construction products.  Ideally, candidates should also be skilled at liaising with and influencing a wide range of contacts within major contractors, from site managers, engineers, and health & safety and back to procurement and finance.
